Choose the shirt before comparing decoration prices. Fit, fabric, color and the size range determine whether custom T-shirts suit your staff, team or event. Use this garment checklist, then request a provider quote for the exact shirt and design.
Confirm fit and the complete size range
Collect sizes from recipients rather than relying on one person’s idea of a normal fit. Compare the actual manufacturer’s size chart for the proposed shirt. If the order includes adult and youth garments, identify them separately; decoration dimensions may also need to change between small youth shirts and larger adult shirts.
Ask whether every required size is available in the same garment color. Record any substitutions before approving the order. A size label alone does not establish identical measurements between brands or styles.
Match fabric to the intended use and print system
Tell the provider whether the shirts are for everyday staff wear, activity, an indoor event or a giveaway. Identify the fiber blend and garment item rather than describing everything as cotton. Ask about comfort, care and which printing process is suitable for that garment.
Brother’s substrate guidance explains that cotton, polyester and blends have different DTG requirements. It does not establish what an independent local provider can produce. Ask that provider to assess its own equipment and the exact shirt.
Choose shirt color with the design in view
A dark design needs enough contrast against the garment to remain legible. Request a layout showing the actual shirt color and each print placement. If your group needs several garment colors, ask whether the logo needs separate treatments or different production charges.

Build the order roster
A useful roster has the recipient or team identifier, garment item, color, size, quantity and any name or number. Keep personal details out of the public quote description. Send a full roster directly to the provider when it is needed for production.

Turn the garment choice into a quote
Once the shirt is chosen, send its item number or specifications with your design, print dimensions, quantity and required arrival date.
