How long does custom embroidery take?

Embroidery turnaround depends on garment availability, digitizing, sample approval, production capacity and delivery. Get a provider-confirmed completion and arrival date for your exact order. This matching service cannot promise a universal number of days or reserve a production slot.

Indy Custom Apparel connects Indianapolis-area customers with independent custom apparel providers. We don't own or operate a print shop — pricing, production and turnaround are set by the provider handling your order. See how it works →

Ask for an arrival date, not just production days

“Ready next week” can mean several things: ready to stitch, ready for pickup or delivered to your address. State the day finished garments need to be in your hands. If they are for an event, leave time to check quantities and distribute sizes before that event starts.

Ask the provider which conditions must be met for the promised date. Approval received after a cutoff or an unavailable garment can change the schedule even if stitching itself is quick.

What can delay the order?

An incomplete size roster, late logo changes, substitutions and an unanswered proof email can move an order back. Individual names add another approval task: each spelling and its corresponding garment need checking. Ask one person in your organization to approve the final version.

Use the digitizing and sew-out checklist before confirming. A digital image can settle placement while a stitched test addresses a different question: whether the design behaves as intended in thread.

What if the deadline is close?

Give the required arrival date immediately, along with quantity, garment and logo. Ask what the provider can actually accept. A smaller quantity, available garment or simpler placement may change feasibility, but a rush charge alone does not establish capacity.

Identify details that can change and details that cannot. For a hypothetical staff event, you might accept a different polo color while keeping the logo and distribution date fixed. Ask for that alternative explicitly instead of leaving the provider to guess.

Will a reorder be faster?

Existing approved files can reduce preparation, but inventory and the production queue still apply. Give the previous job reference, logo dimensions and exact garment specification. If you change from a polo to a hat, ask whether the stitching file needs adjustment.

The reorder checklist helps document what should remain consistent. Confirm the timeline each time; a previous order is not a standing delivery guarantee.

Send a request with enough timing detail

Include quantity and sizes, garment preference, logo placement, artwork status, your city and the date garments must arrive. Say if you already have a stitch file and whether a sample needs approval by someone else. The form accepts project details, not an artwork attachment; describe what files you can provide.

For Indianapolis pickup, confirm the actual location and appointment requirements with the provider. Shipping needs its own allowance and destination. Request an embroidery provider match; the provider confirms availability and terms. Read how matching works before treating a request as an approved order.

Indy Custom Apparel is a provider-matching service. Production, pricing and fulfillment are confirmed by an independent provider. Site imagery illustrates apparel methods; it is not evidence of completed customer orders.
